I’m planning on cooking some treats from my new cookbooks I got for Christmas.

Also, we’ll be making a trip to IKEA to get a few more things to pick up some things for the house.

Have a nice weekend!

you feel like home

Pedro is working at home for the next few days, the first time he gets to enjoy our house just to himself.

After we moved, I managed to stay home a couple of days, but he didn’t. So, it’s cool that he gets to own the house a little.

Last day of work before Christmas, I can’t wait to go home and really get into the mood!

is becoming a weekend tradition.

Segunda-feira, Dezembro 21st, 2009

A weekend filled with friends, food, important decisions and a lot of planning.

It was too cold to go out, so i wandered between the cozyness of our couch and some pretty good homecooked meals. Also, it’s 4 days til Christmas and that’s exciting. But, still a lot of preparation to go. Oh, I love these holidays!

with the cold winter days, comes warm comfort food. this is a great idea to go with a cup of tea.

Apple&Nut bread

1/2 cup of nuts

100g of melted butter

1/3 cup of milk

1 egg

3 peeled apples

2 cups of flour

1 cup of brown sugar

Preheat the oven at 180º. Grease the bread mould. Chopp the apples and the nuts into small and thin pieces.

Mix the flour with the sugar, nuts and butter. Add the milk to the egg in another bowl and whisk them till smooth and then add this to the flour mix along with the apple.

Put the mixture into the mould and decorate with very thin pieces of apple on the top. Cook for at least 30 minutes, and then let it cool on a rack.

It is delicious still warm.

mail

this past week, i got two books i ordered online. I’ve been craving a new hobby, to help me use all the ideas I have running in my mind, that i never seem to find the time and way to use them. And, i’m also addicted to books.. This first one is Sew It Kit, from Amy Butler. It brings inside fifteen small begginners projects, ideas for home decor and also for me :)

The second book is Lotta Jansdotters Printing Studio, focused on DIY screen printing and stencil techniques, and the range of ways this can be used: paper, fabric, walls, etc! The book cames inside a very apealing kit, with sponges, carving tools and a few stencils, ready to be used. Now I just need to stock on paints and think of cute Christmas presents!
