farmers markets
Quinta-feira, Agosto 26th, 2010This past June, we stayed for a few days in Paris, at a friend’s house, in Marais. I had already gone to Paris a couple of times, but this was special: I wandered the city alone and did absolutely everything I wanted to do: peek inside shops, sit on the street cafés and, as you might imagine, check out the farmers markets.
The photos above are from the market just outside Les Halles and it was bursting with fresh produce, flowers and people.

Terça-feira, Janeiro 19th, 2010As I mentioned earlier, on the weekend, we went to our grandma’s old house.
It is a very sentimental house, as me and my brother spent a big part of our childhood playing there. I have great memories of staying in my mum’s old room, playing with her youth clothes, bags and toys, and being able to cook with my grandmother.
We brought a lot of things back home. Her cookbooks – that are my new obsession and a great night reading material -, my gradfathers journals, their photos of almost 60 years of marriage.
These cookie cutters were one of my favourite things to play with, back when I was a little girl. My grandma would let me cut a butter dough she prepared, so that I would make tiny cookies.
A lot of my love of all things kitchen-related came from my grandmothers. They were both so talented, made such amazing things that we still miss and talk about today – even if I haven’t had a piece of almod pie in over 10 years..
So, yes. It runs in the family.
